Reflections of HIM 2011

Many waited in line to have a face to face encounter with a missionary nurse and midwife (assisted by two local nurses). They shared their chief complaint and hoped we were able to help with our limited medicines and supplies. Since it was "winter" we exhausted all our supplies of cold, cough, fever and pain medicines.
All who presented were given multivitamins and iron tabs with a check of their vital signs providing basic care.
We later visited the postpartum ward and presented blankets donated by two Texas Midwives.
We signed the visitor's book after serving in the community health center for about eight hours.

Laura (Pediatric Nurse) and the bags
In collaboration with the Servant House and a local team of sixteen volunteers organised by Church on the Rock,Lusaka, CPGM hosted a two day Health Intercultural Mission (HIM) at the Linda Clinic,Livingstone,Zambia. We had face to face encounters with 252 men, women and children addressing their chief complaint and giving out free medication and medical supplies. One of our many miracles on the trip was getting these medicines and medical supplies to Zambia and the rest to Malawi for the next community outreach.
All 12 bags left DFW without any excess baggage fees after meticulous preparation of the bags documenting the medicines (listing expiry dates etc) to the Zambian officials ahead of time and our hosts preparing the official documents we were able to have more than enough to give out to those that needed them including dental hygiene products and vitamin supplements.
On leaving Zambia and heading to Malawi,God continued to give us tremendous favor with the officials as they waived fees and even held it in Johannesburg Airport until our return from Durban on route to Malawi. PTL!!!
